Community Guidelines
Braai is a place to sit down, speak, listen, and belong. We keep the fire warm by ensuring everyone follows these principles of authenticity and respect.
1. The Braai Spirit: "Find Your People"
Braai is not a place for performance, infinite scrolling, or broadcasting to anonymous crowds. It is a gathering platform. We prioritize real-world connection over digital engagement metrics. To maintain this "vibe," we enforce a strict standard of behavior known as The Flame Filter.
2. The Three Pillars of the Circle
🔥 Authenticity
Be who you are. We prohibit impersonation, deceptive identities, and bot-driven activity. If you represent a business, you must use a verified Business Account.
🕯️ Warmth
Every interaction should contribute to a welcoming environment. Disagreements are allowed; disrespect is not. We prioritize the "Sentiment Vibe" of a circle.
3. Strict Prohibitions (Zero Tolerance)
Violating these rules results in immediate action, including permanent platform bans and reporting to law enforcement where necessary.
A. Child Exploitation & Safety
We have zero tolerance for any content that endangers or exploits minors. This includes Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM), grooming, or inappropriate cross-generational contact. Such content is architecturally blocked and reported instantly to NCMEC and SAPS.
B. Harassment, Bullying & Hate Speech
Do not target individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or age. Braai is a sanctuary from the toxic polarization of traditional social media.
C. Violence & Self-Harm
Do not promote, glorify, or encourage self-harm, suicide, or physical violence. If our systems detect such signals, we will prioritize surfacing the Braai Lifeline to the affected user.
D. Illegal Activity & Scams
Do not use the Braai Marketplace or Circles to facilitate the sale of illegal goods, weapons, or to conduct fraudulent activities.
4. "The Flame Filter" & Moderation
We use a hybrid approach to keep the fire safe:
- AI Sentiment Gating: Our AI assesses content in real-time to prevent the spread of high-toxicity interactions while preserving authentic debate.
- Circle Sovereignty: Circle Owners are responsible for the "vibe" of their own gatherings. They have the power to remove members who "cold-up" the conversation.
- Reporting Hierarchy: Users can report content directly to Circle Admins for minor vibe violations, or to Platform Safety for serious policy breaches.
5. Reporting & Appeals
If you see something that breaks our spirit, report it immediately. Every report is reviewed by our Safety Team. If you believe an enforcement action was taken in error, you have the right to one Human-In-The-Loop Appeal via the Support Hub.
See something cold?
Help us keep the fire warm by reporting behavior that doesn't belong at the Braai.
